The WaPo has a story today covering a recent incident on the Orange Line where the operator was intoxicated. It also reports on issues with Metrorail train operators working consecutive days, issues with fatigue, and other recent mishaps that could have resulted in serious crashes. https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/20 ... ollisions/

Metro GM Randy Clarke has been on the job for 2 years and they have safety problems that have not been addressed.
Before he arrived, there was no safety culture at Metro.
It seems they were more interested in add more train service instead of safety. Safety should come first
Subway trains like Metro aren't required to follow the regulations that passenger railroads such as Amtrak, VRE and MARC have to
FRA rules say crews can only work for so many rules and then they are required to rest

Can the safety commission issue regulations on WMATA tougher than APTA/FTA industry guidelines?
