Where has the time gone??

Today is June 1st, 2004. It markes the five year anniversary of the split of CR by CSX and NS. Time flies, doesn't it? Any random thoughts on where the affected Parties will be in five more years? And I'd be interested in hearing some comments/opinions about the split in general as well as the past five years....

I never thought I'd say this but I MISS Conrail. The Cat and the Horse
just don't do nothing for me. However their mission is not to make
O-6-O happy. Modern RRing in general kind of leaves me wanting.
Wide cabs,no ALCOs, cell phones replacing the radio, remote control
in yards and surely on the way for the road and it well just leaves me
cold. Bring on the mega-meger I say at least UP has some color left.
I never got to see the steam era so I guess I'm caught in some RR
twilight zone.
