Western Wild Fires

A wildfire has swept thru the hometown of Micro-Trains in Talent Oregon. So far the Micro-Trains factory is safe, but it is our understanding that some of their employees have lost their homes. Currently the town is mostly without utilities and may remain that way for days or weeks. It is far too early to speculate about what this means for Micro-Trains product delivery schedules. I am sure Eric will let everyone know as soon as the chaos in their world subsides. For the time being we are going to make the assumption that we will not be seeing any product for the next several weeks. We hope that Micro-Trains and employees get thru this difficult time quickly and safely. Customers may get Micro Trains product from retail hobby shops. For now the Micro Trains factory is closed.

Hi Glenn, thanks for opening the topic. It's definitely way beyond just Micro-Trains, and for that matter way beyond just Oregon. Let me flag it and see if it can be either global or moved somewhere else.

It’s now global, as these fires impact UP and BNSF, including all the exits to the East other than Barstow and the historic SP Sunset route.

YAKIMA, Wash. -- A decades-old railroad bridge that crossed the Yakima River in Benton County has been badly damaged and is no longer operational.

Brig Temple, Central Washington Railroad President, tells Action News that his company has leased the bridge from Burlington Northern Santa Fe for several years.

Dear Dealer and Consumer,

On Tuesday, September 8th a fire a few miles south of our factory began in the city of Ashland and due to strong winds, it quickly spread to city of Talent, Phoenix and parts of Medford. Micro-Trains evacuated by 2:30pm and by that evening much of Talent and Phoenix were destroyed. While our hearts are very heavy for those in our community who have lost their homes and businesses, we are grateful to report that the Micro-Trains factory was unharmed. Sadly, six of our own Micro-Trains employees lost their homes to this fire, and they had little-to-no time to remove possessions from their homes.

A ‘go-fund-me’ account was setup for these six employees by a dedicated member of the N Scale Enthusiast and it raised over $26k! Micro-Trains and its employees are extremely thankful to all of those who donated to this fund over the past week. The generosity and quick response from the model railroading community to help during this time has been an overwhelming blessing to all of us! Thank you!

The factory has been without power and water until yesterday, Monday, 9/14. Our phone lines are not operational at this time, but we are told they should be restored in the next couple days. We will ship September product this week and hope to ship mid-September product next week. We apologize for these delays and appreciate your patience as we work to get back to our normal schedule.
