Hi All:

I was driving past the station on my way home this morning, all the parking lot lighst and lighst on the platforms on, and I have to say it was a very beautiful sight to take in. I think it will be a well used station and one of the attractive stations on the New Haven line.

Regards;
Amy

The New Haven Line timetables that go into effect today include schedules for West Haven station, which opens August 18th. You can view them online here and here.

Inbound trains leave West Haven roughly 5 minutes after New Haven and outbound trains arrive West Haven 8 minutes before New Haven.

The station looks much better now that it's closer to completion, can't wait to see it in person.

any good engineer has no problem with it, yes track 5(3) is still out of service.

You did not disappoint me. I knew you'd say those exact words. :)

Making a westbound stop at West Haven is a pain because the tracks are on an uphill grade. Granted someone who runs Bomb trains everyday would do a better job than those that run them only so often.

I'd say typical metro north. They welcome passengers to a brand new station and open it with bridge plates across track 3, formerly the industrial 5 track. Metro north knew this station was opening but farted around with putting signals in at CP266 on track 3 for moves thru the interlocking. They have the signal base in and wires sticking up and that's it although with the new 3-1 crossover, the signal on track 1 needs to be moved as well because if it stayed in place and a train stopped track 1 and a train crossed over from track 3 there would be the potential for a side swipe. I guess they have other pressing matters such as there roadbed that seems to be crumbling faster then trains can run down the railroad, what with a few different 10mph restrictions that were around near Port Chester and CP234. I will say I think it's a fairly attractive station and looked to be pretty busy yesterday and will no doubt relieve the pressures of NHV.

They cold have opened the station a few months back if the were going to use bridgeplates across track 5/3, as the platforms were finished by then.

the station was ready but CDOT was not ready with surrounding roads and parking including signage.

Weren't they planning to build this station back in 2004/5? I remember seeing a local news piece about the new station in that time period and I guess I figured it would have taken less than 8 years to get it done. Are any ridership gains being projected or is this just going to siphon traffic from other stations? I also assume the former 5-stop super express trains are now going to be 6-stop.
