The VRE Operations Board is asked to recommend the commissions authorize the CEO to execute an
amendment to the Norfolk Southern Operating Access Agreement and Amtrak Access and Storage
Agreement to reflect the Transforming Rail in Virginia (TRV) service plan. The service plan includes post-acquisition train schedule changes for the VRE Manassas and Fredericksburg line trains anticipated in
September of 2021 or soon thereafter

On the Fredericksburg Line, a new train would be added after Train #314 which would depart Fredericksburg at 8:26 AM and in the evening between Train #311 and #313 which would depart Union Station at 5:50 PM

On the Manassas Line, a new train would be added between Train #328 and #330 which would depart Broad Run at 6:41 AM and in the evening between Train #335 and Train #337 which would depart Union Station at 6:20 PM

That's it? Are we ever going to get all day two way service or weekend service? VRE is a joke. Given the changing nature of work schedules and how your average 9-5 joe in an office is probably never going to go back in person full time a complete rethinking of VRE is needed.

Until the Long Bridge project plus other track capacity projects along the RF&P get finished, I wouldn't count on any substantial VRE service increases including weekend trains. In the long term after many of the track capacity projects are done, Amtrak will be running hourly NE Regional Service trains to Richmond and basically that will almost be like its own commuter service.

Shame VRE can't at least do increased schedule between pentagon city and Fredericksburg, with raised platforms, for a metro like service.
