Why do I get sometime notifications of replies days after the post rather than within hours? Why do I not get notification of replies at all even though I ask for them? Why do I get notifications on replies to posts that have been cancelled? All these happened to me this morning.
There are two places you need to check for "notify mes."
The first is right on the "post a reply" form: There's a box to check/uncheck which says "Notify me when a reply is posted."
The second is on your Profile: Always notify me...
If you uncheck those, then you should find notifications tapering off over time.
