Greenbrier Express is selling one of their C39-8s (ex-NS, originally built for Conrail). "Two other units may also be available" according to the ad. Asking price $175K. Seems a little steep for an old six-axle GE. I wonder if these have been overhauled/rebuilt?

Not that I won the lottery or anything. Just curious if railroads like NS or UP wants to sell their older locomotives, where do they usually go to put them on the market? Is there a website that list class 1 units for sale? thanks

Union Pacific usually auctions off their retired locomotives, often utilizing the services of a company called Blackmon Auctions. I don't see any locomotives on their site at the moment, but they've got a bunch of maintenance-of-way stuff up for bid: http://blackmonauctions.com/auctions/16/

out of 7 ex-MNCR units 6 were cut up years ago, and one was at a railroad down south.
Nashville & .......... RR but even that one is probably history.

The four B23-7s that I linked to in my previous message are NERR (Nashville & Eastern) 4217, 4218, 4223 & 4228. The two C30-7s are NERR 7025 & 7082.
