ex-MILW 988 getting some TLC

Post by TicketPunch »

The former Milwaukee Road RSC-2 number 988 is getting repaired so it can be put back in operation by Mid-Continent Railway Historical Society in North Freedom, WI.
The locomotive has needed repair work done for many years and the trucks were damaged during flooding in 2008.
The trucks were removed last year and were sent to L & S Electric to be rebuilt. The work can't be started until enough money is raised to cover the work.
The price to start is $80,000. Mid-Continent has already raised about $25,000 and has a promise of a grant for another $30,000. This will get the work going but once the trucks are dismantled more may be needed for additional repairs.
