Awesome list. I'm a huge CRIP fan, even though I was born 2 years after the Rock died. I've had the opportunity to ride on ex Rock rails on the TXNW in Sheerin TX and in the cab of 1353 while she was FWCR property in Newberry FL.
My update is this; FWCR sold the 1337 and 1353 to Pinsly Railroads. 1337 is in Plymouth FL at FCEN HQ used for parts, ans 1353 is operating the FMID(florida midland) Frostproof line from W Lake Wales to Frostproof. 1337 is now FCEN 58 and 1353 is now FCEN 59. Yhey park 59 at the Florida's Natural Orange juice palnt in Lake Wales.

Thaks so much for the list, keep up the good work, Mike Parker

Thanks for the update! I was born too late to see the Rock in operation but I see freight cars every so often still in the Rock paint. Thats too bad about the 1337, I'll update it soon!

Some corrections for the GP38-2's

"4352 John W Ingram HESR 3865
4353 Nicholas C Mands HESR 3866
4354 Frank J McGarr HESR 3867
4355 William M Gibbons HESR 3868"
Actual order:
4352-HESR 3868
4353-HESR 3865
4354-HESR 3866
4355-HESR 3867
They were not repainted/renumbered in order when the HESR got these 4 from the P&LE in 1993.
4368 GTW 4850
4369 GTW 4851
4370 GTW 4852
4371 GTW 4853
4372 GTW 4854
4373 GTW 4855
4374 GTW 4856
4375 GTW 4857
4376 GTW 4858
4377 GTW 4859
4378 GTW 4860
4379 GTW 4861
The GTW units should start with 5's...not 4's. (i.e. 4851 should read 5851)
Great roster..btw..keep up the good work!!!

Cimmarron Valley Railroad has a side dump, that was a Union Pacific car. It has the Rock Island script painted over but you can still make out the lettering underneath

As for the Rock Island 415's that are surviving, the #421 information is questionable. I would appreciate anyone with ownership info coming forward as well!

I believe that the 421 was actually renumbered. I have a photo of the paint on the cab and you can see the 4 painted over as a 1, taken in the late 1990's. My records show that 421, 422, 423 and 424 all went to Brandon Rail. Two were utilized as parts to make 423 and 424 operational. The hulks of 421 and 422 were cut up as scrap. I have the electrical cabinet and various other parts off of one of them, but no markings indicate which they may be from. 423 went on to Omaha and Railcar America then on to the BSOR. The 424 (or 421 as painted) went to PLM and is now on the siding in Kansas. It is mostly complete, though the copper and aluminum thieves have hit it pretty hard. I'd still like to find the owner to purchase internal parts for our 423 though.

The 424 (or 421) was photographed this past week still on the siding though. Anyone who can clear up details on this one would be appreciated.

The former Rock Island RS-1 #749 built in 3/41 is at NRE Paducah. It was requisitioned by the U S Army in early 1942, rebuilt to an RSD-1 by ALCO, and shipped to Iran as USATC #8006. After its Army service it was sold to the Tennessee Valley Authority. It is now privately owned.
