Does anyone would tell me what is the exact output power of a GE C30-7?
If you can provide the source I´d appreciate `cause I´ll need it in my job.
All the information I got so far was 3000HP but I need the correct number (something like the numbers of the tech data of its Manual)
Tks

The correct answer is indeed 3000 horsepower.

For more info, try this:

Thanks a lot, man!

That will help me a lot! hard to find these old manuals....

Just to complicate matters... I think Burlington Northern uprated some to 3300 horsepower and some to 3600. And that British Columbia Railroad's 3600 hp six-axle GE locomotives were uprated C30-7.

Yes, mine is supposed to be a 3280HP one. Guess i´ll need a specialist to make me a report.

What's your job?

GEK-30130A Diesel Engine Maintenance Manual, for Conrail 4-79 includes governor data for a very wide range of overall equipment options; however, for units with FDL-16D or E engine rated 3000 HP for traction (U30C, C30-7) the official rating is given as 'horsepower delivered to generator' as you'd expect with the engine gross (brake) horsepower given as 3300 BHP. In the old Educational Manual for the U30 series the gross horsepower (brake horsepower) for the D-series engine (small fuel pumps, 400 RPM idle / 1025 RPM full load) is given as 3250 BHP so the later data may reflect either rounding or a slight increase. Of course, this last line of data doesn't apply directly to a C30-7. I don't have the load test data handy. Does that help you at all?

I´m a Customs Agent. I need do set the exact classification of the locomotive on a import process and the division is right in the 3000hp line.

Well, thank you all guys!

The output of a C30-7 should be 3000 Horsepower. In loadtest at the MP Card which is your Multiplier Card you should have around 7.2 VDC X 424= 3,052.8 HP. Also when calibrating the C30-7 your total current output in Notch 8 Short Circuit is 5,100 amps. Take 5,100 amps and divide it by 3 sets of traction motors and it will come out to aroung 1700 amps. A load meter on a GE will go up to 1,800 amps. The loadmeter is only looking at the numbers 2 & 5 traction motor 1,700 amps X 3 sets of two = 5100. A short circuit calibration is like as close to a hard pull as you get. In the real world on a hard pull a DC locomotive is all Current and very little voltage.
