Word is that seven of the eight will be leased by NJT, the exception being 2302. NJT needs power, or at least cabs, while their PTC installations continue to meet the year end mandate. It will be interesting to see if the SEPTA locos are actually used to power trains or just serve as glorified cab cars.

The westbound was pretty crowded. Got to see it go east through Overbrook and then rode it out to Wayne. It was a very bittersweet feeling to see it pull away for the last time.
Fun fact, this was as far as I am aware the only time a push-pull had an engine leading on the east side.

Most likely glorified cab cars, but a few people even think that is unlikely and that they will just sit at MMC rusting to rails.

Everyone:

We should thank everyone that posted videos of the SEPTA Farewell Excursion Train 12/1 runs.
There looked to have been significant interest in this event by the amount of videos available:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... 2F1%2F2018" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There was a good rail enthusiast turnout for this one time only event that I personally had to
unfortunately miss due to the timing of the trip...MACTRAXX

P.S. AC: This could be a good title for this special excursion as a stand alone topic separate
from the AEM7/ALP44 Retirement subject since there looks to be enough Forum posts to
make this worthwhile...

-Septa's AEM-7s, #s 2301-2307 (-2302) and possibly the ALP-44 #2308 are scheduled to leave for NJ Transit this Sunday night (12/23/2018).

Sounds like the crew will report for duty at Frazier Yard at 10pm on Sunday. They will depart Frazier Yard at 11pm, head for ZOO, utilize the New York/Pittsburgh Subway route, head for Trenton Station, then back down to NJ Transit's Morrisville Yard.

Obviously, times and movements are subject to change.
