I'm usually around the NJCL around evening parade time, west of Long Branch, so I see a lot of it, or try to.

Most, if not all, MLs out of NY Penn ran locomotives on the west end. Eastbound morning trains I see are usually in push mode, in pull mode coming home.

Lately, a few of these MLs are running push mode westbound. Wasn't the operation keeping the locos on the west ends of these NY trains? Does it really make a difference? I was told once that trains leaving NY had to have the power on the west end. Has the equipment and personnel shortage and other problems caused a change in operations?

Here’s the rotation for 4120 today, 11/24/18:

4724/4729/4740/4745/4756/4761/4768/4773/4780/X472/4705

Expect 4120 to lead trains 4745, 4756, 4773, 4780, and 4705

I think I saw 4120 tacked onto the back of a pushing ALP eastbound the other night.

Here’s my video from 11/23/18 of a NJT F40PH-2CAT in revenue service. Enjoy!

Former Comet 4 (?) cab car 5023 has been tacked to the back of ALP 4513 last few days. Strobes are still on the roof, but no horns. 8-car train with the usual Comets and Comet 5 cab car. Are other old 5000-series cab cars still in use as regular coaches? I haven't seen one in some time.

Great video. Is the F40 in revenue, or rescue service, towing the PL42 and train?

5000-5008 have been sitting stored in Bay Head since 2010 and went swimming in Sandy.
5011-5031 have slowly been having their horns and controls removed and the windows plated over as they are only used as buried coaches.

Saw former cab car 5029 in service last night.

Last night (Fri Dec 21) I noticed westbounds through Bradley Beach were left-hand running. I presume they crossed back over at Shark. One westbound stopping at Bradley went toward Shark and I noticed an eastbound headlight holding at Belmar.

Just wondering why the wrong-side running.

NJT MM-08 should be nearing Spring Lake at this time (1:39 AM) heading east. Consist is 4112 LHF and a Comet IV coach

Another former Comet 4 cab car spotted in service as a coach. 5022 was seen tacked behind ALP 4502 last night in an eight-car shuttle.

So far, 5022, 5023, and 5029 are seen west of Long Branch.

Everything is running on track 2 west of Long Branch right now due to a disabled train fouling track 1 at BATH Interlocking

As of Tuesday, the engines assigned to Bay Head were 4500, 4502, 4506, 4528, and 4532. There were two Multilevel sets and one eight car Comet set, as well as two five car Comet sets. Also, there was no Long Branch protect

Noticed another old cab car converted to coach use last night, behind ALP45 4511. 5021 joins the ranks, along with 5022, 5027, and 5029. All still have strobes in place and one of them still has the horns mounted.

1003 (looks like a Geep but isn't) LHF went through Bradley Beach last night westbound around 11:20 PM. Behind it were two MLs and a Comet.
I guess this is MM-something?

I noticed Long Branch doesn't have a diesel protect engine lately. I saw an ALP 46 sitting by itself, lights off, pan up.
