So here's the main thread in the Bombardier forum: http://www.railroad.net/viewtopic.php?f=190&t=171024

That means for us here in Maryland:
  • MARC train operations on CSX lines and MARC maintenance (including rebuilds of the HHP-8's) would be taken over by Alstom.
  • Light Rail car rebuilding is still under Alstom.

Alstom has NOT purchased Bombardier. The 2 companies are currently in advanced talks, but no agreement has been made as of this time.

Now, in addition to Bombardier talking with Alstom on a possible merger, Bombardier is also exploring a possible merger with Hitachi.

We will just have to see how this plays out. But for now, Bombardier still owns their rail business.

Looks like they did...

Fair Use:
Canada’s Bombardier said on Monday it had agreed to sell its rail division to France’s Alstom for an enterprise value of $8.2 billion, as it focuses more attention on its aviation business and pays down debt.
