Potential Bombardier rail sale to Alstom, effects on MTAMD

That means for us here in Maryland:

• MARC train operations on CSX lines and MARC maintenance (including rebuilds of the HHP-8's) would be taken over by Alstom.
• Light Rail car rebuilding is still under Alstom.

Alstom has NOT purchased Bombardier. The 2 companies are currently in advanced talks, but no agreement has been made as of this time.

Now, in addition to Bombardier talking with Alstom on a possible merger, Bombardier is also exploring a possible merger with Hitachi.

Today, both Alstom and Bombardier are announcing the deal.

The deal landed closed. Bombardier's Rail divisions are now Alstom as of Jan 29th, 2021.
