Anyone know what is going on on the Yellow Line? At any given time, trains are going to six (!) different destinations: Huntington, Franconia, Mt. Vernon Square, U Street, Fort Totten, and Greenbelt. Why are they short-turning in so many different places?

The trains to Franconia and Greenbelt are Rush+ Yellow trains, only during rush hour. The trains to Ft. Totten are off-peak service, and the trains to U Street are because of a broken (?) switch at Mt. Vernon Sq, which seems to work sometimes because I see some trains headed there off and on. Huntington, naturally, is where all Yellow line trains come from/head to at all times.
