Metro implements 15-minute 'grace period' July 1

The 15-minute grace period to exit a station without being charged the minimum fare is now in effect.

It's not that this will be causing Metro to lose money. It's that it will prevent Metro from collecting money they should never have been collecting in the first place. They were charging people for no services rendered. And worse, this most often happens when someone walks in, sees it's a disaster from some major malfunction, and leaves to find a better way.

This is no different than pretty much every parking garage (other than Metro's), where if you leave within 10-15 minutes of entering, the fee is $0. Because clearly no service was rendered or used.
