Sweet! If I recall, LIRR had 300, 301 & 302. Love those 6 wheel rear trucks. Reminds me of the C-Liners.

Steve, didn't you write something about the FL-9's a few years ago on this or one of the forums?

FL-9's 300-302 were the prototypes of the DM-30's, were fitted with 645 prime movers and AC traction motors.
Were setup to work with the C-1 cars and had M-1 type couplers on the B end of the unit and used on the C-1 cars.

correct 12/710G3 , they are now running on some oil rig as generators.

I was running that train. We still had not gotten the OK from the FDNY to transit the East River tunnels, so we ran to LIC until we could. Later, if the E-mode failed we were redirected to LIC instead od PSNY which made the "customers" VERY unhappy.

The FL9s were rebuilt in 1991 by Republic Locomotive Works into FL9ACs to run on LIRR over riding 3rd rail and Diesel power.
