From the NYS&W Yahoo Group:

"Sources indicate there will be a "hospital train" of several NYSW units
over CSX within the next few days. This should include the 1800;s the
3042, 2012, and 2062. Power is planned to be the NYSW 3634 making her
return to service trip. Power is being moved from Utica for storage.
there have been rumors(unconfirmed) that the shops in Utica have been
sold, thus the need to move the equipment. Stay tuned."

Any chance that 3042 will be repainted or is. That engine was at Dansville earlier right?

Given the Oneida County IDA spent a lot of money on that shop, I hope they have approval on any sale. Heck, maybe they just assumed ownership and kicked out the NYS&W.

Some of those units are off for work to be done.

Looks like only 3014 and the "assumed dead" 3614 are currently in Dansville.

only 3014 will return alive.
earlier in this thread it was pretty much determined that 3614 wont operate again. :(

and no, 3042 has not been to Dansville.

timeline of Dansville moves can be found here:

This talk of the EMD' locos should be under a separate thread.
Now; what about the shop? Who was it sold to?

Hey everyone,

Let's keep this thread confined to the Utica Shops. If you want, start another thread on the EMD's.

Thanks,
Charlie

Ok,

Here is one more piece of equipment being moved out of the Utica Shops.

Former O & W Car #30,Warwick, is leaving the Utica Shops for it's new home in Franklin, NY in mid August.

They do seem to be moving a lot of equipment out of Utica lately?

I have never understood the need to stay "on topic"..
what possible harm does it do to talk about a few EMD's for a few posts??
I will never understand it..been on the internet over 10 years now, and I still dont get it...oh well..one of lifes unsolvable mysteries I guess..

normal 1-on-1 conversations are allowed to wander a bit, why cant on-line conversations?

Scot calls his Sister, we havent talked in a few weeks:

Scot - Hey K, whats new?
Sister - oh nothing much, the car is in the shop again.
Scot - sorry, but I specifically asked "whats NEW"..the car is old news, im sorry, but I cant permit you to talk about that, please keep to the topic of this phone call, which is NEW things only..
Sister - are you drunk?

(no one need reply or try to explain..I wont be convinced anyway!) ;)
(besides, if you reply to this post, you will be OFF TOPIC!) ImageImage

thanks,
Scot

Mind sharing the source of "rumor confirmed"? Until it is actually confirmed, then I'm treating it the same as "Mission Accomplished"
