Can anybody explain the locals operation here? I grew up in the South Bend area and still work here. I observe the following but cannot make sense of it:
1. WB short freight with 1-2 GP59 for power around 2p
2. EB short freight with 1 GP38 for power around 5p
3. The CN yard at Olive, where a local ties up after the Wabash branch to town was fully abandoned, has a few geeps.
All three seem to be a concentration of steel coils (Steel Warehouse traffic), covered hoppers (guessing ethanol plant), and scrap (there's a scrap yard on the SW side of town).
