America, we’re in rail trouble now. What could park more cars and locomotives than the recession? Congress could.

On Tuesday, June 2, the Senate is scheduled to vote on legislation that could be very harmful to rail operations. Please write Congress today and tell them we need to keep the freight trains moving America. We’ve made it quick and easy to help. Just go to http://www.nscorp.com/regsthatwork and you'll see our Legislative Action Center.

Simple, but your action will make a difference.

As a quick update: yesterday, activity on Capitol Hill effectively sidetracked – for now – Senate consideration of the Railroad Antitrust Enforcement Act of 2009. This is good news for the rail industry, Norfolk Southern, our friends of the industry, and the communities we serve.

Your voice made a big difference in Washington. Last week, we asked you to write Congress and urge a “no” vote on the legislation.More than 2,000 employees, family, and friends sent e-mails (practically overnight) in opposition to that bill. Thank you for helping the cause.

But this was only one skirmish. The fight continues. We’ll count on your continued support as other legislation surfaces that would harm the rail industry.
