photo locations

I am planning a trip to Florida's East Coast in a couple of weeks.
I would like to get some photos of the FEC Railroad
Does anyone have any suggestions of good locations for photos
I am flying into Jacksonville

I'm fond of Vero Beach, further down the coast. I don't know FEC's current schedule through Vero Beach. The RoW is easily seen from public property in the Vero area, making trespassing most unnecessary.

Weekday departures from Bowden Yard, Jacksonville include trains
101 at 12:00 Noon, (Fri and Sat at 2:00 PM, Sun. 2:30 PM), 54ain 105 at
1:30 PM Mon-Thur, 107 at 5:00 PM Daily and 117 at 5:30 PM Sun-Fri.
These are your daytime departures this time of the year and the above
trains terminate at Hialeah except for 117 which terminates at Fort
Lauderdale. Running time varies from 9 to 10 hours.
Northbounds could include 202, 206 and 208 generally between noon and
8:00 PM.
If you are down the coast you will need to figure your times accordingly.
They are not big on radio use but they do use radio alarm detectors
enroute every few miles.
Most radio activity is on 160.53 but the trains answerwing the dispatcher
use 160.77.
They are generally freindly people but PLEASE stay off railroad property.

As usual, I will support the Ft. Pierce area, and it's "midway" yard. There are multiple locals that work from that location, several trains that originate/terminate there, and always yard jobs working. Views from the adjacent public golf course, and area grade crossings, make it a decent enough place. A benefit(?) of my town would be the daily appearance of the SCFX train, from Clewiston, as well as Tropicana juice cars, for the OJT. It's possible to chase trains, up and down the Dixie highway, if you can avoid the local law enforcement types while racing alongside speeding trains.............
