Baldwin S12 Grille

Post by nmueller » Mon Jun 20, 2016 11:13 am

Hello, all.

I did not see this topic in older posts so I apologize if it's already been covered.

One of the distinguishing features of the S12 is the asymmetrical front grille--it is subdivided to allow what looks like an access hatch on the bottom (http://yardlimit.railfan.net/baldwindie ... s308ai.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Does anyone know what this feature was for?

Thanks in Advance.

Not just the S12, but the S8 and the RS12 also have this feature. Like the S12, the very earliest of these two models also lack the "grille" in the "grille".
