Does anyone know why most BNSF freights headed to Houston from the North go via Temple and enter the city from a west or south westerly direction vs coming straight down the former BN line (FW&D) via Casey which seems to be much less circuitous? The only reason I can think of is that most of the BNSF yards are on the south side of the city and perhaps they don't want to fight the congestion going through downtown even though it's clearly the more direct route.
