Hello,
To my surprise (due to the ongoing rail blockades in Canada), SLR/SLQ did run road trains last night. On this frigid morning (in the -17 to -19 oF range), today's SLQ westbound 393 departed Island Pond at 0810 with the following:
QG GP40 3105
GP40-2 3007
GP40-2 3035
6 tank cars
9 covered hoppers
8 hi-cube boxcars
5 boxcars
1 centerbeam flat
That's 29 cars total, all empties. There were only cars from Pan Am and South Paris/Mechanic Falls, nothing from the Lewiston Branch and no propane empties.
It took them awhile to get rolling out of town, as the train wheels had frozen to the rails overnight.
The locomotives were kind of a funny mix: the normal (3105), palest (3007), and boldest (3035) paint schemes.
There's still about 25 cars parked in the yard at Island Pond and waiting to go east.
Have a great weekend,
Fritz
