I have yet again updated the M8 physics mod pack to ensure compatibility with the patch that was released by DTG for the M8 on December 2, 2014. The patch address several issues, but fails to correct the physics values, horn, door, and traction sounds. One important issue that WAS addressed was the dynamic brake behavior in relation to the master controller position. Dynamics will now apply as soon as a minimum reduction application is made. This mod pack has been updated to accommodate that fix.

This is the Metro-North Kawasaki M8 Physics Upgrade Pack, 2015 Edition (12/2/14 M8 Patch Compatible).

In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased the Metro-North Kawasaki M8 EMU Add-On available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/258647/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

THIS IS NOT A SOUND UPGRADE PACK. The Leslie RS2M + door sound pack will be released separately from this pack.

The purpose of this pack is to improve accuracy of the tractive and braking effort curves, reflect the TE limit in the on-screen TE monitor, and tweak car weights slightly.

Parameter Change Log:
1. Modified Tractive Effort and Dynamic Brake curves based on 806 kW power rating per car and 11,582.7306 lbf (51.52255 kN) starting effort and 16,216.4234 lfb (72.134 kN) braking effort.
1a. Starting acceleration is now calibrated to the specified 2.0 mph/s from 0 mph to 35 mph.
1b. Maximum braking rate is now 3.0 mph/s attainable from ~25 mph to 0 mph.
2. Maximum sustainable speed limited to 100 mph via changes to TE curve file.
3. Ampere parameters adjusted so that cab TE monitor display accurate to the actual tractive effort being applied to the rail.
4. Weights modified to match those in manual; A car = 65.7 metric tons, B car = 65.22 metric tons
5. Updated brake pressure specs to be compatible with the M8 patch that was released on 12/2/14.

IMPORTANT; Install Instructions

1. Proceed to open folders until your directory reads "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\M8Pack01\".

Well, that was a relatively quick turnaround for a release :P
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMXIg3baekc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is the DTG Miami P42DC Physics & Sound Upgrade and HEP Version Addition pack.

In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased BOTH of the following for this pack to be fully functional:
1. Miami - West Palm Beach Route Add-On available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/222627/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
2. Metro-North P32 AC-DM 'Genesis' Loco Add-On available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/258655/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

THIS IS BOTH A PHYSICS AND SOUND UPGRADE PACK. Sound mods were made to accommodate the physics mods; more details below.

The purpose of this pack is to correct some physics errors in the DTG Miami P42DC locomotive, swap in the horn and bell sounds from the P32AC-DM, and add proper door sounds for the passenger cars.

General parameter Change Log:
1. Adjust Tractive Effort down to real world values. Default TE ratings are too high.
2. Adjust Braking Effort curve to simulate realism.
3. Adjust amp limits so that the in cab ammeter displays properly.
4. Increased fuel capacity from 1800 gallons to 2200 gallons.
5. Increased air brake application and release rates. Original rates are painfully and unrealistically slow.
6. Adjusted values in the AmtrakP42DCEngine.proxyxml file to accommodate the change in the RPM range for the non-HEP locomotive and the HEP locomotive.
6a. Prime mover sounds should now play all the way up to 1050 rpm, and idle pitch has been moved up from 315 rpm to 468 rpm.

This pack also converts the NC locomotives (the locomotives that do not have crew members in the cabs) into HEP running versions.
The parameter changes for those locomotives are the same as the ones for the non-HEP versions except for the following:
1. Change RPM range to 900 - 901 and adjusted fuel consumption rates based on information here: http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/r ... ?4,1871287" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
2. TE Ratings for the HEP versions are lowered realistically, since power is reduced by HEP draw. Specific values used are stated below.

Technical specifications for both non-HEP version and HEP version:

I downloaded the first release of your sound and physic pack for this, Fan Railer, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. It's kind of disappointing that DTG couldn't have done this in the first place; hopefully the Steam review I wrote and the e-mail I sent them will at least make them feel a little bad, haha. I really enjoyed the horn and bell on the Shoreliner.

What's new in Version 2?

Hate that the default Railworks M8 sounds like the Hitachi Javelin? Well, despair no more. Here is EVERY SINGLE MOD I have ever made to the M8 neatly combined into one mod pack, including the most recent mod, which finally replaces the recycled Hitachi motor sounds with custom motor sounds specifically for the M8.

This is the Metro-North Kawasaki M8 Comprehensive Upgrade Pack Version 1.0 (12/2/14 M8 Patch Compatible).

In order to utilize this freeware physics & sound upgrade, you must have purchased the Metro-North Kawasaki M8 EMU Add-On available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/258647/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

The purpose of this pack is to improve accuracy of the tractive and braking effort curves, reflect the TE limit in the on-screen TE monitor, and tweak car weights slightly.

In addition, this pack incorporates several important replacement sounds, notably for the horn, air conditioning loop, and traction motor sounds.

Physics Parameter Change Log:
1c. Maximum braking achieved with combined power handle @ 45% brake.

Sound Parameter Change Log:
1. Replaced default horn with Leslie RS2M horn (with option to switch between RS2M and WABCO AA2 horn).
2. Replaced recycled Hitachi Javelin traction motor sounds and sound code with custom sounds from actual M8 trains.

Hey guys! Welcome to my first successful real time recording of my TS2015 development work. During these 4 hours, I show you the in depth process of creating motor sound code from what is basically scratch. We start off with the code structure from my pre-existing M8 motor sound mod, and slowly but surely morph it into a fully functional and accurate M7 motor sound set. I realize that 4 hours is pretty long, so just to make sure you know what you're watching me do, here is a rough table of contents:
0:00 - 19:14 -- Showing the M8 motor sound set before modification and setting up the New Haven Line for the BETA runs.
19:14 - 2:10:46 -- Major proxyxml coding modifications are made to the existing M8 motor sound proxyxml file to turn it into the M7 motor sound proxyxml file.
2:10:46 - 2:19:05 -- Setting up file structure and prepping for BETA test rounds.
2:19:05 - 3:53:30 -- BETA test runs are conducted in order to iron out any inaccuracies / "impurities" in how the sound pack performs. Lots of minor coding adjustments and tweaks are done in order to increase accuracy and test functionality.
3:53:30 - 4:09:40 -- Packaging the mod pack to RWA standards and uploading to Mediafire.
4:09:40 - 4:11:00 -- Opening Windows Live Movie Maker to begin rendering this long ass development tutorial video...#inception

Thanks for watching and I hope some of you up and coming developers can learn something useful from this. Enjoy =D
