Hey Forum,

I'll be driving from Vancouver WA to Illinois later this summer, and would like a consensus from those who know, where I NEED to stop on my way through.

I'm planning on going down I-84 to Utah, and then across I-70 through Nebraska and Iowa. I'd like to spend a bit of time in Grand Island NE, but other than that, I have no idea where I'd see the most action, or be rewarded with the be viewing spots. Who can help?

Rob,

NE-30 parallels the river through Nebraska, and according to you, the UP main. I'm wondering if this is all visible from I-80 across the river?

I have been down a good stretch of I-84 along the Columbia River in Oregon, and there are some nice spots there on both sides.

Well, my itinerary has changed slightly.

We're still planning on spending a bunch of time in Nebraska, but our travels will also take us to the Lake Pend Orielle bridge in Idaho, and to the Marias Pass. I'm very much looking forward to seeing those spots and what shines the rails there. Suggestions anyone?
