I'm not sure if this was discussed or even posted.

How many paint schemes has the KCS had on their locomotives through out its history? Anyone know what their first paint scheme was? I last saw the white with the large red KCS back in late 1979 early 1980's on EMD's SD40X KCS No.700.

When it comes to diesels, I can think of approximately 7 schemes with some slight variations, including logos.

1. Flying Crow
2. Black overall with white lettering
3. Southern Belle- passenger versions 1 and 2
4. Southern Belle- freight version 1, 2, and 3 (including the currently used scheme, which is actually the passenger version 2)
5. Red overall with yellow lettering.
6. White overall with red lettering versions 1 and 2
7. Gray overal with red lettering
