Hi I'm an Australian living in Mahachai city in Thailand and I'm very interested in mass transport and railway topics that i created a web site dedicated to all kinds of Thai mass transport.

It can be visited at http://thaitransit.blogspot.com

The new topics are

SRT: The Mahachai Rail Yard.

http://thaitransit.blogspot.com/2008/03 ... -yard.html

SRT: The Mahachai line a trip from Bang Bon to Mahachai.

http://thaitransit.blogspot.com/2008/03 ... on-to.html

There are also 18 other Thai mass transport topics on the site covering everything from buses to the BTS and MRT metro lines of Bangkok.

I hope you find the pictures and vehicles shown to be of interest if you view this please post some comments and feelings about the pictures.

Great site and pictures thanks .
Amazing that with the relatively cheap labour rates in thailand , that they dont have old fashioned track gangs to at least hand tamp the tracks into reasonable condition .
the boats bring back memories of my time in Bangkok , still no mufflers .

Yes over here you don't need to ask in advance to look around the yards and workshops. Just be friendly with staff and they will most likely help you find something good to take a pic of.

in some locations like Mahachai the rail yard is part of the town i.e. there is no start and end point to it and people walk though it constantly.

Thanks for your interest in my pics

I remember going across the river from Bangkok , and pretty much wandering around the railway yard there . ( thornburi ???) but that would be nearly 20 years ago now .
