The original line passed from Shildon across the ECML north of Darlington to Stockton; easily followed (but now relocated), I walked across that line in the 1980's; what was the original passenger station at Stockton (shown in this film in 1975) was later made into a museum, but has long since been left empty; the buildings still stand. Track was still used there until the 1960's, but again, the ROW has now long since been abandoned. Two plaques on the exterior of the original station buildings mention the history of the station, put in place in the 1920's, I believe. Photos of the station buildings were published while trains still used the ROW in the 1960's; the scene can be seen on google, and visited. Sam
