What exactly are cab signals and what is their purpose ??Cab Signals pick up an electric current through the rails and relay block conditions to a device inside the cab. When the signal drops to a less favorable aspect an audible alarm goes off in the cab and needs to be acknowledged, if not the train will be placed in a penalty brake application and brought to a stop. Generally cab signal systems allow a faster maximum speed and can be used to remove fixed automatic wayside signals.
