There were 6 tankers spotted on the Ridgedale runaround today... Don't know if they are coming or going... Anyone know?? Did they come off CSX or NS at Chester Junction?? Destination?

May be a late heads-up....

Sometime today or perhaps more likely Thursday a.m., the M&E should ferry 2-3 PV's ( Ohio River, Kitchi Gammi Club, Mount Vernon ? ) from Morristown East to NJT's MMC complex for staging as part of the special trip out of Hoboken Terminal on Friday morning. Bennett Levin's Pennsy E8's will be the power.

At Morristown 5:00 no sign of PV move though it could be done. 18 & 19 in front of the house. Table car Birkin which was here yesterday is gone and. RS-11 7215 has appeared - windows boarded up headlights broken and red painted areas tagged at least on one side. Anyone know why it mighty have been moved?

UPDATE !

Just learned that none of the M&E PV's will be part of the trip tomorrow....so no ferry move.

4 PV's will be coming from Sunnyside Yard/NYPenn via Amtrak to Hudson Yard/MMC and 3 plus the Pennsy E8's coming up from Philly. The latter move is still scheduled for a 1:00 pm departure although there's a distinct possibly of that being moved-up to NOON.

In the spirit of the PHOEBE SNOW and THE LAKE CITIES, this train will reportedly be spotted on TRACK #8 at Hoboken Terminal !

Pure speculation, but maybe they brought it in so that they can fix that stuff up and get it in service.
Sadly that's not the case. Since it was so heavily vandalized and broken into, they just brought it in to re secure it and remove the graffiti. Once that's complete its going back into hiding off Eden Lane in Whippany where it was before.

No, it is not!
They stored some diesel equipment up there a few years ago, but the last time the Vornado Spur actually received a carload was in 1991 or 92.

So other than the FL9s and some NJT cars stored several years ago, M & E doesn't use any part of the Vornado spur for anything lately? Too bad about the warehouses along Murray no longer using rail.

No, nothing.... A few of the warehouses still in business back there all went to truck I believe.

What damage did M&E Railway suffer from Hurricane IRENE ?

I've been told there is a washout (maybe more than one) along their main line.

What is the prognosis for repair, and re-opening the line to traffic?

I heard them crossing Morris Ave. in Rockaway yesterday afternoon at their usual time, somewhere between one and two. I'm not sure exactly what time it was because every clock in the school said it was 9:00 ...typical...
