The Main Street & Franklin Avenue intersection in Rockaway is currently being reconfigured. A new traffic signal will be installed, as are new crosswalks, curbs and pavement. The crossing was recently resurfaced and appears to have new rails. WIll the new crossing have a signal or will be crew continue to manually flag it?

One crossbuck (on the south side) was removed, but the other crossbuck remains on the north side near Mill Lane Tavern. The wood post appears to have been repainted white from bare wood recently.

The traffic signal will have a pre-emption phase for the railroad. Signal head facing the railroad will be installed shortly.

No plan to install any red flashers for the vehicle traffic and no gates.

New crossbucks will also be installed.

The traffic signal is now in service (it first started in December).

When was the crossing resurfaced? I recall passing in early September and it wasn't yet, but it was by the time of the Rockaway Town Fair caboose hop on 9/12. Judging on the fresh pavement and ground, I'd guess just within a day or few prior to the event.
