VIA's Bras d'Or is making it's way east today on the first run of the 2004 season. It's on CN from Halifax to Truro and Rail America's Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia Railway from Truro to Sydney.

Here's the consist:

6410 F40
8613 Baggage
8138 Coach
8506 Skyline Dome
Yoho Park Dome Sleeper Observation

My family took the third round trip of the season, i.e. Halifax-Sydney on 15th June and return on the 16th. The consist was, I believe, the same as the first run. There were about 50 passengers on the eastbound trip and 30 on the westbound.

It is a first rate operation, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The round trip cost is about $411, including tax. We travelled on VIA Preference points: 4,000 per person.
