I have been at the RK Miles lumber yard in Manchester Center frequently this month. The southbound passes through about noon and returns northbound passing through Manchester after about 4:30 PM. I have not paid attention to which days, although some weeks it seems like they run every week-day. Recently, the northbound has been spotting box and rack cars with lumber at the RK Miles sidings! The RK miles yardmen say this lumber switching activity is common in early spring. Recent trains have had 2-4 engines (including the handsome VRS reds) and sometimes as many as 50 cars. The southbound is easily chased all the way to North Bennington along most of Route 7A, with many terrific photo spots. Having fun for no money!

Week of March 6 2017: VRS Rutland to N. Bennington has been running southbound through Manchester as late as 2:00 PM and northbound after 8:00 PM - some days spotting cars of building materials at RK Miles on the northbound run. The horns at the crossings bouncing off the hills are sweet!

NPWJ, led by CMQ 3812 and VRS 207, led 38 cars south today after picking up 4 at CTI. Fantastic chase, put some videos up on the VRS Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1766034606985911/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The saga continues....

Fair use quote -
"A U.S. District Court Judge ruled that federal law allowed Vermont Railway to bypass key state and local permit processes regarding its newly constructed facility west of U.S. 7 and north of Shelburne Village."

Kevin Burkholder reports that...

"VRS "little WACR", aka the M&B Subdivision, will see the return of a long-term granite contract from Websterville, Vermont. Empty gons should begin arriving from the New England Central and loads will be accumulated back for the NECR at Montpelier Junction, VT. VRS will assign a pair of geeps to the assignment out of Barre, VT."

The final push to finish the rail installation on the Northern Sub has begun, VTR's in-house tie crew worked through the remaining twelve miles finishing up last week. And the contract rail gang (Frontier) is on site, scheduled to start installation today. Gonna be a busy summer!

Green Mountain Railroad GP9R #804 - the only remaining EMD unit in the green scheme for Vermont Rail System - is seen moving 7 of the ex-Trinity Railway Express RDCs through Barre, Vermont on August 15. The cars are owned by David Blittersdorf under the banner of AllEarth Rail and will be used to launch commuter and transit service around Vermont in the next 2 years. These 7 were moved to the former Bombardier plant in Websterville, VT for servicing and work, while three others will have the work done at VRS' GMRC shops in North Walpole, NH.

Who owns/operates the former Bombardier facility now?
