Question about stations on the Southern Secondary

I'm trying to get a rough idea of where the Southern Secondary stations were located (i.e, near what cross streets). Same for the Barnegat Branch.

"The Trail of the Blue Comet" covered that pretty extensively. I can't quote it since I don't have a copy, I had to borrow it at the Library.

What do the circles with the multiple vertical/horizontal/or diagonal boxes represent? Signals?
