The BNSF merger

i have never thought of this, but now i have and wondered one thing, did burlington northern purchase santa fe or did santa fe purchase burlington northern, if that didnt happen since they merged i think, who had the intensions of merging, because i believe only one of the 2 railroads had probably mentioned the idea of merging and was wondering if you know?

The ICC approved the merger and BN purchased the Santa Fe stock from the shareholders and formed the new company.

The Santa Fe had a tortured corporate history. I used to own Southern Pacific stock.... ended up with Santa Fe stock....

Since the SF+SP merger was denied, BN would be the only partner left.

Now all shares are owned by BH.
