I'd hardly call it a crisis in need of solving. The problem with supply chain isn't with the railroads. It's getting containers out of the yards due to the chassis shortage, a lack of drayage drivers, and also to a large degree the lack of OTR drivers for stuff not moving long-haul by rail.
I get that you guys are upset your cheese was moved and 50+ years of status quo & expectations were wiped out. Those rocking chair jobs at all the smaller terminals and yards are now gone. You're probably having to work as much as the junior guys do. Nobody outside of maybe a shop steward ever promised that you'd get paid top rate to sit.
And yes, traffic *is* being moved with hundreds of locomotives mothballed and all those yards being shut down. Makes you wonder why so much money was spent on locomotives that could have been used elsewhere and keeping yards open that should have been disposed of decades ago.
