Siemens Mobility, which builds trains at a factory on French Road in Sacramento County, had made an urgent request to the county Board of Supervisors for permission to temporarily use three neighboring parcels to store unfinished trains, as the Covid-19 pandemic disrupts the company's supply chain.

County staff are recommending that the board grant the request at its meeting Tuesday.

But the disruption has left Siemens unable to complete some train cars, the county reported.

The 60-acre factory includes more than 680,000 square feet of manufacturing space and offices. It also has a testing track on site. Siemens has been building light rail and trains in Sacramento since 1984.

So will some of these cars be sitting unfinished, like the unfinished Budd SPV200 shells in Wilmington, DE?

I'm also guessing there are going to be delays by a few months if not years for certain railroads ordering new Siemens equipment such as Amtrak.
