I was wondering if anybody had any information on this line's freight traffic after the end of passenger service, I can't seem to find much about this time period, only the mention of service being cut back to IFF in 1972. I'm curious as to what customers remained in this time period as well as traffic levels, frequency, and motive power. Any information is useful thanks, Chris.

CNJ 4104

In that time frame, ALCO RS-3s' ruled the locals that ran the NY&LB, Freehold branch, and the Seashore branch. During those CNJ days, a local would alternate direction. South (rr west) from Red Bank to Point Pleasant one day, Seashore branch, the Freehold next etc. Post Conrail rebuilt GP-9s'. GP-38-2s' I lived in Matawan (Pre Aberdeen) and saw it in my teenage years. There were customers beyond IFF. Find the book Henery Hudson Trail by Arcadia Publishing. Quite a few pictures in there. Not a historical type of book but a person with some railroad knowledge can see information.
