Re: Signals on NYA's Lower Montauk line

That signal has been there for at least 2-3 years. It was when the G-heads first stared invading Harold and F. Speaking of which, the G-Head signals at the east end of the Hunterspoint station have been there almost the same amount of time and are still bagged up.

Glen St is also right by a downtown.

I was over at that station a week ago late at night dropping off a friend at her car, and I noticed the old low level platforms are still there and in decent condition. Thought that was interesting. I would also guess that the RR just wanted to save money. The high levels look tiny, almost like a mo...

I think something similar happened last year on the Montauk branch where vandals stole copper wire used for crossing signals or the wayside signals. There were delays thruout the pm rush over there. And it may happen more than we think, knowing how general the railroad communicates the delay causes.

No plans to double track the station as far as I know, although it would make things easier for passengers as well as any drivers that drive over the larkfield road crossing. As far as the whole branch goes, I don't know about property issues but there are some bridges that wouldn't accommodate anot...

The lower Montauk wouldn't have been any help at all. Most of the congestion was east of Jamaica. It was so bad today trains were backing up as far as Hicksville and Wantagh. (Disclaimer: I bailed from 613 at Jamaica and went to Brooklyn instead. No congestion on the Atlantic branch west of there)

Wonder why it took a while for the protect engine to come out? (They sent alerts about bringing it out, and I saw the m7 set was shoved onto the track that ducks under the main line and leads to Morris park) Good thing there was one though. At one pont the delays were about an hour,

Thanks Clear of BH. I wa about to say that I spotted 422 on the Port Jeff scoot at Park Ave crossing in Huntington a few minutes ago, and that only confirmed my suspicion

Just passed Morris park about a half hour ago on a train from Brooklyn, and I spotted a DE numbered 423. I thought there were only 23 DEs numbered 400-422. I'm sure I wasn't seeing things , so can anyone shed lighton this? Couldn't get a picture, sorry

It can happen anywhere on the RR. Case in point there were delays last month at Northport during the AM rush. That area is single track so 2 trains (619 and 621, normally 30 minutes apart) were stopped yards apart on the main waiting for an eastbound (604) to take the siding east of the station. Aft...

It's 14th-42nd. Took a 5 local at 33rd this evening. I still don't undestand the rationale of stuffing the pax onto the 4.

My best guess would be 613 was about 99% full today. I noticed a couple facing seats open west of Jamaica but several standees in each vestibule who refused to take those seats. Certainly not as bad as Monday or Tuesday. But we continue to hold for long periods of time in Jamaica waiting for connec...

Just transferred from 2025 to 613, which has 6 cars today. Full seated load but only a few standees in each vestibule. 49 looked crowded. Not as bad as I was expecting, On another note, the Harold protect is back and manned The alert just came in that 2025 is being cancelled at Jamaica, with 1107 a...
