With regard to the freight breakdown screwup on Friday mentioned above, I was on 681. The MBTA actually ran a special train to Woburn from North Station just for Amtrak 681 customers. It skipped all the intermediate stops and allowed the trip to continue on the former 680 sitting at Woburn with no d...
With the new schedule trains 681 and 684 meet right around the PTC, but the maneuvering to get by each other doesn't make sense to me (been on it three times so far). The mainline is double-tracked there with a crossover from track 2 to track 1 just south of the branch into the PTC. NB 681 can go in...
Yes, that's the most significant improvement. The lack of a Northbound train to BRK before 1:05 PM was a killer.
Not to belabor the point of train 683 being sold out today (Fri 11/9) but this morning its status changed from sold out to not sold out, I quickly changed my wife's travel plan from the bus back to the train. They just left BON a few minutes ago and says the train appears to be very lightly sold. Th...
Anyone know why train 683 on Friday (11/9) is sold out? (whereas 685 at 5 pm is not, which is more typical). It is unusual for an outbound mid-day train to sell out in the off-season. In fact I'm on that train a lot and it's usually very empty. Wondering if there is a glitch in the reservation syste...
Any update on the Royal Junction siding project, particularly the end date? Go though there twice a week and while things were going fast in late Summer, seems to be very slow lately. Long lengths of row with only ties in place or neither ties nor rail. Seems to be less manpower & equipment acti...
Here's the story per NNEPRA - all things weren't quite in sync until yesterday. WOB is closed on weekends for enough time (at least to end of year) that it was incorporated into the schedule instead of keeping it as a red flag alert. So the new schedule (Oct 16) reflects the completion of the track ...
Yeah, but then the reservation system shouldn't take a WOB destination.
There has been an advisory posted for some time that the Woburn station is bypassed on weekends until the end of the year. The advisory has disappeared from amtrakdowneaster.com and a test booking to Woburn this coming Sunday in fact went though. Anyone know what's going on? Decided not to do the wo...
So do I show up when my ticket says (7:30)? It was 7:00 when the bus hop was included. It also occurs to me that Monday might be a holiday. But even if they are not working that day, the timing makes no sense as there would be slow orders in the construction zone. 7:30-10:50 is the normal full-speed...
According to AMTRAK.COM, the schedule is back to normal on Monday Oct 8 - I just booked 682 BRK-BON at it's usual times, no connections or busses shown.
It is not good that Downeaster.com does not agree with this. I am not sure when to show up.
Some of the interim schedules posted at stations show Oct 7 as the end of this construction period, but the latest ones linked to from the Downeaster website now show Oct 14. The conductors on train 686 yesterday thought it was still Oct 7. Is this being dragged out? I ride regularly and not only is...
Not impressed with the construction/interim train/bus schedule so far. 1) First time I went southbound (last Monday 9/24), bus from Wells arrived in Dover only to wait 45 min for the train. In the meantime some Pan-Am Passenger! train went through northbound???? 2) Friday (9/28) northbound 685 arriv...
Agree with Rockingham Racer. There is no need to add another slowdown to a schedule which already has too many of them. Wells is a great station, tons of parking etc. Spend the money on not crawling through Portland, or on the many places where the speed is 60 instead of 79.
