On about Aug. 7, CSX placed new TK 2 in service north of Portland between CPF 185 and new CPF 189.
Not sure why this was done. Did CSX pay or NNEPRA pay as part of their plan to add another frequency?

Between about 10:30 am and 2 pm five Amtrak trains were delayed 2 hours or more. MBTA Twitter said trees
near Mansfield. Did the trees take out catenary or signals? Did MBTA run any bus bridges to maintain service?
Thanks

One thing alot of people may not be aware of is that there have not been many incidents on the NEC or Harrisburg Line of trees falling on the right-of-way and taking out signals or catenary. In July there were 8 tree incidents that delayed multiple Amtrak trains for hours in July, 6 in VA, 1 in Upst...

On July 5, trains X-631 on TK 3, Gladstone-Hoboken 312 on TK 1 and Summit-Hoboken 412 on TK 2 all stopped in the vicinity of Maplewood due to damage to pantographs. NJ TRANSIT provided buses at Maplewood station to rescue the passengers. Each equipment set had to be pulled to Summit to clear the Mor...

During the early mornings of the 6th and 7th there were catenary outages in roughly the same area as
the signal outage on the 3rd. Wonder if there was a common cause?

To compare what could be with what we just got, let's examine the proposed schedule of 301 - the fastest train, making limited stops at Joliet, Bloomington-Normal, Springfield and Alton. With the new schedules posted on amtrak.com, I see that 301 makes the 220 miles from Joliet to Alton in 3 hours (...

Prior to CNJ's pullout from PA, did LV use Allentown Yard for classification?
After 1972 when LV began regular operation via Allentown, were there thru
trains that used the original LV west of Bethlehem?
Thanks

To think that TV station reached out to Amtrak and still were not told the original cause - derailment of rear trucks on engine/lead trucks on first car of train 84 as it was passing through the switches at A Interlocking (north end of 1st St Tunnel). The radio streams were uncharacteristically quie...

Metro-North has been using a "laser train" similar to one on the LIRR to remove leaf residue.
Is it lasers installed on a scheduled passenger train or a work train? How many of the cars in the train are equipped with lasers?

On May 13, Amtrak Wolverine 355 set out two allegedly bad ordered cars at Livernois Yard, Conrail Shared Assets in Detroit. Believe they were Charter Wire cars. How would the owner arrange to get the cars repaired and moved to a location where Amtrak could pick them up?

A little bit of additional information - train 178 was operating on TK 1 when it passed the work train on TK 2 at Davisville, RI. WE still don't know what was protruding from the cars on the work train that made contact with 178's cars, or if 178 was operating at timetable speed (125 MPH) or reduced...
