Re: amtrak p40 833 question

by railaw ¦  Thu Jan 22, 2009 5:01 pm ¦  Forum: MTA Metro-North Railroad and CtRail Passenger Rail (SLE, Hartford, Extensions) ¦  Topic: amtrak p40 833 question ¦  Replies: 70 ¦  Views: 6688

Yes, it definitely wasn't 843, just saw it and it is all Amtrak. Whichever I saw this morning was pulling 1645 though.

As to my comment about paint, indications on previous posts was that there weren't any current plans. Obviously they're going to do something eventually.

To post on the proper thread, what I thought (though not certain) was 843 was on 1645 this morning and had the CDOT markings on the side. As to future paint, asked and (un)answered.

CDOT P40 Paint Job (sort of)

I hope this isn't old or repeated news, but I saw that one of the newly purchased P40's (840, I think) has had its Amtrak logo on the side painted over (with a slightly different color grey) and a CDOT emblem replaced it. Now regarding any railroad's highest priority (above on-time performance, cost...

67, pulled by 653, broke down in OSB this morning on its way to BOS. The passengers were being transferred to an acela at around 8:20 this morning. 67 had an extra cafe car (I presume) in front of the baggage car. But what makes the event interesting are twofold. First, the SLE protect set which sta...

Yes, I have noticed. I can't remember a time (no pun intended) when they were perfectly synched.

The HHP8 is 656? (definitely x56). I was on 95 this morning, and it sat outside of NHV for about 25 minutes before proceeding in.

Well that's the thing. The report didn't say that the agreement is the problem (I wouldn't be surprised if they got that wrong), and it said that there was planned extended service for this spring. Well if service was planned, what was the plan? How were they going to deal with the agreement? Or was...

This issue is about a (potential) CDOT line, which of course is quite involved with Metro-North. And of course SLE topics are allowed here, which is the closest analogue of the NHHS line. If the funding is from the same source, they're at least somewhat related. I think the interpretation that Conn....

I don't want to discuss the merits of extending service to New London (which seem limited at best). I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the supposed plan that was delayed, and how it dealt with the obstacles mentioned in previous discussions but not in the news story.

Interesting to know that the ties are between OSB and NHV. Would that have an effect anyway? I don't see how it would. Perhaps the tourism referred to is to the two casinos just up the road from New London. There is bus service to and from the casino from the train/bus station downtown. The question...

SLE to New London plans delayed

I saw the following news article yesterday, and the question that I had was, "what plans?" The story cites more time needed to replace ties as the reason that a planned daily and weekend service increase to New London was delayed from this spring to next spring. I've never heard of such pl...

There have been several rails (maybe 6) laid next to the tracks at state street for at least six months now. This morning a crane on the tracks moved one rail from one side of the pile to the other. Why would they do this? Any what are these rails for? There was also a lot of MofW equipment in the W...

As of a few days ago, there were perhaps six coupled together in the south end of Cedar Hill yard. Couldn't see numbers though.

Thanks for correction on capacity- i was just guessing based on an earlier post - it does make 50 passengers seem more substantial. Thanks also on the Vt origin/destination numbers. It seems we can safely say an average of about 100 VT passengers per day, plus intra VT passengers. I guess the origin...
