Re: Manorville Branch- Connecting the Mainline and Montauk

The east and west legs of the wye on the Mainline end of it can still be traced during Autumn just about near the MR block limit. Though the track is long gone, you can see an inset grade cutout of the surrounding landscape. Other than that, you won't find much remnants other than trails.

Re: NYA 156 leaves for rebuild?

How did NYAR get around the agreement between EMD and LIRR when they purchased the 156 from the LIRR? EMD has first rights to those engines upon sale by the LIRR - the same agreement they had with the GP38s. I'm surprised it slipped past EMD because those units for sale on the market nowadays could ...

If they truck them half of the trip from Suffolk to Nassau, might as well bring them the whole way into NYC then transload there to wherever.

Ex-CNW, late GP38-2 built March '79. Looks like it has dynamics.

FYI Teuto, Google is a very powerful and easy to use TOOL.

NYAR decide GMTX leasing wasn't for them? Wonder if this one will stay more than a month.

I've never heard the term Primary Diesel. That's a Wikipedia phrase that some know-it-all buff coined. The DM30ACs can be converted while the train is in motion, whenever authorized to do so. On runs to and from Penn, they convert upon arrival in Jamaica for westbounds and upon clearing Woodside for...

I remember seeing these two cars being delivered to PW team yard one evening, probably around 1994-1996. They were both on flat cars, shoved into the team yard with engine 273. They were unloaded onto flatbed trailers by crane and trucked to the training facility in Bethpage over the next two nights.

It was always a Clear aspect crossing onto the Central from Mainline 2 since the switch is MAS. You wouldn't get a medium clear. Could have been that the piece of sheet metal broke off and they replaced it only with the diagonal piece so it could still display a Restricting. Figure it could display ...

Jay, the old-timers at work said they left their cut on the Central Branch clear of the main while they serviced GM, like you said. I don't like posting photos from my collection on the internet anymore because most get stolen and I don't get credit, hence the watermark. These slides were taken by R...

That was the interlocked siding for General Motors, controlled by B. It was probably cut out in the late 80's when Beth went remote from Divide and they electrified the mainline.

nyandw, Maybe if the photographer authorized you to use his photos on your site, you'd have an actual name to credit them. Half of the photos on this thread and many on your site are mine. I have not been given credit nor do I know where you got them from. This is why I don't share my photography an...

First one is DEFINITELY Hicksville during grade crossing elimination, looking east towards the station.

Second I'd guess Cold Spring or around the Kings Park area, east of Lawrence Rd.

Ticket clerks have the potential to earn overtime not just in the ticket office, but they may also work as Ushers (announcers), in the stores department and as station cleaners among other crafts. They are all TCU employees and may bid back and forth between positions if an open position exists.

Another piece of Morris Park trivia: I'm not sure if it's in the UTU contract or just a hold over from a previous contract or whatever, but the UB customarily doesn't handle switches west of the crosswalk down there. Usually they will handle the top switches of the yard and the Hostler will handle s...
