Good afternoon.
I can concur the Shenandoah did indeed have a full 10-6 sleeper at least circa-1980. Rode in the sleeper Cincinnati to Cumberland. Rode again before it's discontinuance w/o sleeper c1981. Wish I could have ridden that Amsleeper!

Good afternoon from CUS Metro Lnge.
Let's not forget there were thru cars for awhile, using amfleet, circa1996. It can be done, maybe not Super liners.

To expand on Mr. rohr turbo's earlier message, (oops there's that "T" word again!!) I wanted to add that the Swedish X-2000 trainset made a promo tour sometime around 1993-ish. I remember seeing and walking through the consist while it was on display at CUS. Still have my commemorative X-...

If I may chime in, the CUS Metropolitan Lounge has a staffed check room, at least the last time I was there. Should be able to check-in stuff and ride our wonderful "L." Regarding DC Acela lounge, there is a "self-serv" bag check-in room behind the check-in desk. I used it many t...
I thought that maybe Amtrak was going to offer something more than a standard cafe car and it's menu. In the earlier days of Amfleet, some longer distance trains lost a full diner, and had a "Amdinette" instead. This service was listed as "tray meals" with table service for dinn...
Saw tail end of GA
RR pv at Wash Union Station while boarding 29 this afternoon.

If I may add, there also was a former NYC baggage car for storage at the coach yard in Chicago for many years. Not sure if it is still there however.

Good afternoon to all. Just received an email from Amtrak concerning service-disruption for #5-6. Seems there will be a re-route for #5-6 between Creston, IA and Lincoln, NE due to sandbagging, etc for rising Missouri River, at least as of Monday 6/23. Sure hope any delays will be minimal as it were...
Can't add about Acela vs Regional, but I can certainly concur with respected comments regarding qualified employee manning the vestibule for Amtk reverse moves. Last May, I was on #29 in the last coach somewhere west of Pittsburgh. We stop then after a while begin backing up many miles with qualifie...

I'll just point out that that magnificent ceiling still exists in the current ticketing area and the Acela lounge (taken by me 6/19/2013). http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t319/markhb/2013-06-19085650_1024w_zpscbd8f615.jpg Totally agree, the South Station Acela lounge is beautiful. Was there in S...
With a shortage of sleepers and an abundance of stored Amfleet coaches, I'm kind of surprised that Amtrak wasn't resourceful enough to come up with some makeshift Amfleet sleepers. Didn't they try something like that in the 70's for one of the Virginia trains (Hilltopper, perhaps)? Yes, I do rememb...
Interesting blog and tube visuals of the Viewliner II's taking shape. The new cars really look good!
Love that phase III striping!
