I think MassDOT's plan was to extend 495 and 478 to Greenfield but it has probably changed a dozen times since I started typing.
Track speeds will officially be changed by Saturday morning. MAS in a couple locations will be 100mph or greater.

Is it just because they are only restoring one of the tunnel stairwells and capping the other one that they need the grade level egress - would they still need that if they restored the second stairwell also? As far as I know, both stairwells and an elevator will be open on Tracks 4 and 6 once the ...
The first coach comes off at NHV and is added onto 55/57. They were held for police activity in Longmeadow. Mass State Police, Connecticut State Police, Springfield Police, Longmeadow Police, Enfield Police and Amtrak Police were searching for armed home invasion suspects from Springfield that crash...
Is the Springfield line the only stretch of track that Amtrak still hasn't finished? Also one other question: I was under the impression the line already has ATC speed and signal enforcement with penalty braking in the diesel locomotives used on the line which runs off the old style cab signaling t...

There are two shut downs planned for April to install the switch and complete the work in Windsor.
Amtrak is self insured.
It's all scare tactics. The trains aren't going anywhere.
Believe it would be a "toss up" between IP's Mass Central and the Grafton & Upton as best freight operator playing along with MBTA. Figure on NS finally pulling the "trigger" on PAS takeover from PAR. My money is on a G&W property, whether NECR, P&W, or a new railroa...
MassDOT wants CP45 to CP98 in the worst way. They've even mentioned acquiring upto CP150. This may be their opportunity to pick it up. However, I don't realistically see CSX giving it up cheap given their competition with Pan Am/NS.
