Not since the Duke was Governor.
Top 3 lines for me that should never have been removed for passenger in Massachusetts. It still go all the way to Woodshole, the other 2 Central Mass to 495 or Clinton and Lexington Branch to Bedford or even Concord.
I wonder if this will be another area that new Auditor or Governor will be looking at? One can hope this could bring the TT's back.
I love this. NH refuses to give any money towards the Downeaster, benefits from the service and, now oh we will charge you to travel through our state.
Live Free or Die!
One of the main reasons why the Downeaster goes via the Lowell Line is because of Anderson Woburn. You can overnight park and there is more convenient highway access than anything between Boston and Haverhill on the Haverhill line
Why not just say all cars built after x date has to have the new braking system. That along with mandatory retirement of cars from being interchanged after what is it 50 years? Would get you a slow but easier way to upgrade the braking system.
Maybe it all should go the way of New Jersey or Connecticut. Abolish all the transit authorities and put everything under a statewide authority. With a rail division which may very well make it easier for more trips to Hyannis and Pittsfield, bus division, ferry division and a heavy/light rail divis...
What many nonunion people don't understand is that yes the Union will protect you. If you are filing because you are acting with impunity yes they will go through the motions but they won't put their A game into this fight.
And that's where the problem is Boston thinks small now they don't think revolutionary. As I said this is a multiyear project and by the time we get any deck overs which is being done at North Station, South Station and along the Turnpike fyi, the rails will be electrified like the yards around Penn...
So how does MassDOT access Readville if MBTA has the Fairmont? Readville has two platforms on the NEC (currently unused), one platform on the Franklin line connection to the NEC, and one platform on the Fairmount line. The platforms aren't the issue CRail answered the question with the hopeful Widd...

And the same was said about the Seaport or the Old Herald and it's going to take years and by that time the T very well could be electrified.
Not sure about that. It's the largest parcel near downtown that's available for development and the T already said anything they design will allow air rights.
I think that WIdett Circle is great for 1 thing. A southside heavy maintenance facility. used right now for diesel but futureproofed for electric service. Then the sale of air rights for added revenue is an added benefit.
