Due to emission credits the class 1 railroads have accumulated, EMD and GE will be able to continue to build tier 3 diesel engines until about mid year 2015. So about a 6 month delay for tier 4. That said, the freight locos built from there on out until at least 2017 will only be from GE. Apparently...

GE does not have caddilac health care plans. Better get the facts straight. New hires also have no pension. Union or not, hourly or salary. Unless you are in upper management, then the sky is the limit. How can one compete with a country, like China for instance, that has no regard for the enviromen...

Unfortunately, I can't think of anyone that has gone to Texas from PA that has stayed and liked it. All that I know have come back and have nothing good to say.

The wages are very similar to Erie's. However to get the rebuild facility/investment there, the new hires had to fall under a new wage tier. The new tier is quite a bit less, even lower than what is paid in Texas. While GC is non union, some have been pushing for one the past few months.

It is possible. GE has sold China most (if not all) of the technology needed for the locomotives. They didn't have to steal or clone it. Just the way of the large corps these days. Pad the bottom line today at tomorrows expense.

950 people will most likely be losing their jobs in Erie as Evolution Locomotive production moves to Fort Worth. This would be all the Class 1 Locomotives used in North America. They have mentioned that within the next 60 days, the union and company can negotiate to try and keep some of the jobs in ...

The high pressure lines have been used for years on the FDL and Evos (any diesel for that matter). What is different now is that the lines go from cylinder to cylinder, a "common rail", vs from the individual pump on each cylinder to the injector. So there was really no flex due to everyth...
