Got to the Richmond Railroad museum while you are there. It's on Hull street near downtown. Have lunch at the Iron Horse restaurant in Ashland, it sits right on the tracks. Ashland is also a good place to be between 4 and 6 pm. At least three Amtraks including auto train and usually a couple of frei...

That was one bouncy ride! And it sure is a lot easier cutting in early April than it is this time of year. As you can see, once you get past the little bridge it gets grassier, so it should be easier cutting. Now that I'm thinking about it, on that same trip I also cut the Glenford Dike. I remember ...

Once the culvert is put in and filled where the little bridge is/was, if I recall, the roadbed is in pretty decent condition. Unfortunately because of the use of fertilizer in the adjascent fields, the overgrowth in there is pretty thick for awhile, but then thins the closer you get to Hurley Mounta...

Little off topic, but was there saturday and saw some guys working on the "Southern comfort" car. Looks like they painted the roof and there were some people working on the interior.

Those 100+ year old laid up stone abutments ain't going to cut it today even if you have some steel to lay across them. I'm going to have to agree on that one. That stonework looks pretty, but it all needs re-pointing at the very least. If you take a look at the culvert they had put in before, it ha...

Having a featured article in July's Railpace magazine can't hurt anything.....how the County can be bent on destroying a railroad with that kind of continued exposure just mystifies me. The people of Ulster County really need to get on board with this and make some noise.....

The only storm damage east of the Boiceville trestle is a ton of trees blown over. Think they got through most of them a couple of weeks ago.

The FEMA money has nothing to do with that section (Ashokan to Kingston). I left out the FEMA money for the Boiceville Trestle. I understand why nothing has moved there.....it unlocks the other key to the resevoir....the first one was the C9 bridge. It is going to have to be the will of the people t...

To emphasis how much of this is politics, Hein says it's ok for the train to run between Phoenicia and Boiceville. So ok, why aren't you releasing the FEMA money to fix the damage in that area?
