Re: Amtrak Downeaster Discussion Thread

redo the ferry terminal into a joint train and ferry station. Of course Maine Narrow Gauge would have to move with these suggestions on continuing over Back Cove.

Re: Commuter Rail Electrification

Pollack really doesn't like electric running, made the same comments future upgrades to the Matapan Line.

Re: Better Transit to/from Downtown and Logan + At Logon

How much time would your proposal add to commuter times? I do agree with adding some type of non bus transport between the terminals, blueline, car rentals and maybe the boats and a new bus station for the Logan Express/ Silver Line.

Re: The T and Large Events

On the Keolis side, What if there are more "short turn" trains? Turn more trains around at say Anderson or Littleton. Shorter trips mean faster turn around times. Of course that would be at a cost to riders from the ends. What parking lots have the most capacity? This could be another option run mor...

Re: Ashmont-Mattapan Trolley Line Discussion

Loved this quote: During the Control Board meeting on Monday, MassDOT CEO Stephanie Pollack questioned parts of the report presented by MBTA Chief Engineer Erik Stoothoff. Specifically, Pollack voiced concerns about the "resiliency" of light-rail cars moving forward, due to issues with the overhead ...

Re: The T and Large Events

I don't remember which news outlet I read it in. The article said the commuter rail had every piece of equipment running that they could extending all the sets they could to 8 cars. They also did extra runs that they could. I give them a pat on the back for that. At fear of straying from RR.net Mayb...

Open container laws are bylaws or city ordinances. There is no state MGL that restricts you from walking around with an open container. According to the MBTA it would appear they do not have a problem: https://www.mbta.com/safety/violations? ... es&facets=

Re: Red-Blue Connector

Why would there not be enough gain from it? 1. This would relieve the core stations from extra transfers. 2. It would provide 1 transfer instead of two. 3. Speed up travel times for many people. As for your Bowdoin comment, there are out of the box options such as moving walkways and pedestrian tunn...

You are looking at a current aerial of Erving. Route 2 has changed in this area so the alignment may have been different many years ago.

You may not be sympathetic BandA, but I am because it will improve the flow of every subway line. I think that this will be the biggest bang for the buck right behind new subway cars.

Re: South Station Expansion Project Discussion

How about we clean trains and pad schedules at platforms at the trip ends where space is cheap? Not a bad Idea for many of the commuter rail end points, though you will have to rework places like Haverhill or Providence. It looks like with new construction the end of the line is off the main like i...
