Yup, that was him! And yes, I was a participant in the previous iteration of this forum, minus a brief period where I was banned by Otto. It was far more active in the past, but I still recognize a few names here

I remember this happening twice in Port Washington. One time was an overgreased switch leading to track 2 sent the train sliding right thru the fence and crushing the entire bike rack upon brake application. The other time supposedly a pigeon smacked into the windshield as it was approaching the bum...

Got word last night that Chris Soundy, former operator at PD Tower and who used to post here, has passed away. I have a lot of great memories of hanging out with him, watching and learning. RIP my friend, thank you for the great times!

Actual wording of Amtrak's agreement with freight operators?

Does anyone have a source/link to the actual verbage of the operating agreement established with the freight railroads when Amtrak was first founded? I'm curious if the freights were only obligated to allow operation of what existed on the day of the agreement, if space was carved out for future exp...

They replied but unfortunately the only data they have is on ridership totals, nothing about breakdown by time of day/direction

Transit gets more riders so why waste money on intercity rail is about the dumbest argument I've ever heard given we need both for the country to properly function as a whole, but in the context of this convo, let's dance: Transit will have multiple stops in a city like TJ or Juarez. That means eith...

Laredo is maybe a mile from the nearest road crossing? Nogales and Juarez/El Paso are right next to one. TJ/San Ysidro, I'd probably just say do San Ysidro since that's where the transportation hub is anyway, although if you do an in station one at TJ it lets everyone bypass the lines at San Ysidro

Simply getting the Surfliner to San Ysidro would add a huge market for Amtrak. The border bus market is nuts, especially at that terminal. Even a single track extension along the light rail would help. Monterrey is definitely another extension that should be seeing regular service into a regularly o...

Unfortunately it doesn't break it down by time period, so hopefully filing a request will get me the info.

I was hoping it would be available online, but I guess that'll have to be the way. Thanks for the info!

Where can I access it?

LIRR came out with an O&D report back around 2014 with detailed info on ridership broken down by station and time period (peak, off peak, mid day, weekend, etc). Is there anything similar for Metro North?

Comprehensive Ridership Report?

Has NJT ever published a comprehensive ridership report that breaks it down by more than just station totals? I'm mostly interested in reverse peak ridership numbers by station, but other info like peak and weekend info would be helpful in the future as well.
